Called to Belong
Church Membership

Saturday, October 15th at 9:00 a.m.
OR
Tuesday, October 18th at 7:00 p.m.

We invite you to attend a membership seminar where you will learn more about our church
and how you play a vital role as one of its members.

1. The Standard Of Membership

(a) The Standard of Membership of North Shore Assembly of God shall be:
     (i)    Evidence of a genuine experience in regeneration, i.e., the new birth (John 1:12,L 3:3-8; 1 Peter 1:18-25),
     (ii)   Evidence of a consistent Christian life (Romans 6:4; 8:1-4; 13:13,14; Ephesians 4:17-32; 5:1,2,15; 1 John 1:6,7),
(iii)  To fully subscribe to the Tenets of Faith as set forth in the Constitution of North Shore Assembly of God and,
(iv)  Willingness to adopt the Biblical principles of tithing and stewardship for the support of North Shore Assembly of God (1Corinthians 16:2; Luke 16:1-8; Leviticus 27:30-34; 2 Corinthians 9:6,7).

(b) All members should bring themselves to the realization that we are a part of the body of our Lord Jesus Christ, and members of the household of faith. As such, it is our duty to love and pray for the Church as our earthly home, and to strive to glorify the Lord in our spirit, soul and body.

(c) Members are encouraged to attend all services regularly in view of Hebrews 10:25 which states, "Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching."

(d) There are now among Christian people those who became entangled in their marriage relations in their former lives of sin, prior to their salvation, and who do not see how these matters can be adjusted. These people may be received into the membership of this Assembly, leaving their marriage complications in the hands of the Lord  (1 Corinthians 7:17,20,24).

(e) No persons shall be accepted into membership who are known to be living in a common-law state of matrimony.

(f) Low standards on marriage and divorce are very hurtful to individuals, to the family, and to the cause of Christ.   Therefore, we discourage divorce by all lawful means and teaching. We positively disapprove of Christians getting divorces for any cause except fornication and adultery (Matthew 19:9).

(g) The New Testament restricts divorced and remarried believers from the church offices of bishop or elder or deacon (Titus 1:5-9; 1 Timothy 3:12).   North Shore Assembly of God shall uphold this standard for all members of the Church Board and leadership. However, other opportunities for Christian service for which these believers are qualified shall be made available to them.

2. Membership Covenant

(a) Have you a definite, positive assurance in your heart that you are a child of God, and that the blood of Jesus Christ, His Son, cleanses you from all sin?   (John 3:5-7 and 1 John 1:7)

(b) Will you earnestly and constantly strive to attain the highest standard of Christian experience and life, even as it is set forth in the Word of God?

(c) Will you strive to be faithful in your attendance at the various services of the Assembly, and will you bring regularly your tithes and offerings, as God has prospered you, into the Lord's storehouse?

3. Application For Active Membership

Those desiring to unite with North Shore Assembly of God shall complete an application form and submit same to the Pastor. The Pastor and Board of Deacons shall meet with each applicant and shall examine the candidate according to the standard of membership and the Membership Covenant. Candidates shall be given a copy of the Constitution and By-Laws, containing the Tenets of Faith, at that time.

4. Reception Of Members
